Lafite 酒庄的历史可追溯至公元1234 年，然而自1675 年Jacquesde Segur 公爵将酒庄纳入西谷家族版图，Lafite 酒庄才真正开始有着飞跃性的发展。1855 年，Lafite 成为波尔多葡萄酒分级制度中Grand Cru Classé 之首，葡萄园占地100 多公顷。每年葡萄采收后，约有1/3 的葡萄用来打造一军同名旗舰酒款，其余则用来酿制二军酒Carruades de Lafite 与三军酒Pauillac de Château Lafite。ChâteauLafite Rothschild 的葡萄园土壤黏土质较少，以颗粒粗大的砾石为主，排水性极佳，对葡萄藤来说莫过于是最好的生长环境，平均树龄45 年以上，打造出的酒质结构坚实、酒质内敛，带着一股油然而生的高贵质感，在《稀世珍酿》一书中被陈新民先生形容为「极端优雅」，同时神秘地令人难以捉摸。

This is a denser version of the 1990 that stylistically reminds me of what the young 1959 probably tasted like. Still backward with a deep ruby/plum color revealing only a touch of lightening at the edge, the wine offers up an extraordinary nose of caramelized herbs, smoke, cedar, pen ink, black currants, and earth. The gorgeous aromatics are followed by a full-bodied, plump, rich, fleshy wine with low acidity.
