Lot 9013
A BRONZE TRIPOD CENSER WITH ARABIC SCRIPT Qing Dynasty
Refined copper casting. The mottled mix of leather and chestnut colors supply a lovely visual impression. The mouth is round with a flat rim and the sloping shoulders merge into a wide abdominal. Two ears protrude from the shoulders. Whilst the outside wall is decorated in Begonia style with sumptuous and lively Arabic writing, three legs extend from the underneath. At the bottom is a square frame displaying in two rows of characters, Made in the Zhengde Period. The plump body and the upward rising ears are in harmony with the contours of the hanging abdominal section, making it a perfectly balanced item.
