Lot 9025
A BRONZE ROUND BELLY TRIPOD CENSER WITH RUYI EARS Qing Dynasty
Fine quality pure bronze with a purplish red body, it is a decent and classic beauty. This piece has a round opening with a flat, inward slanting rim, a narrowed neck and a round abdominal. Extending out from either side of the abdominal is a pair of Ruyi ears, followed by a round base supported by three short legs. On the bottom, the four characters, Plaything of the Jade Hall, are written across two lines of seal script and are embossed in a square frame. It is a censer of beautiful coloration and a rich glow. The perceived gravity of the abdominal dropping downward and ending with the three stout legs gives the piece the perfect proportionality.
