+ OVERVIEW

Jon Burgerman was born in the UK in 1979 and graduated in fine art from Nottingham Trent University. He currently resides in New York, USA. In recent years, he has held solo exhibitions such as "Group Therapy" at Blanc International Contemporary Art Space in Beijing and "New Friends" at the WOAW Gallery in Hong Kong in 2022, "Feel the Heat" at the WOAW Gallery in Singapore in 2023 and so on.

Jon Burgerman’s works are collected by institutions like the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and Upper Austrian Landes-Kultur Museum in Linz. He has received awards such as the Cannes Advertising Award and two nominations for the D&AD Silver Award. He has collaborated with well-known brands like Samsung, Coca-Cola, Apple, and Nike, just to name a few.

Jon Burgerman's graffiti artwork is known for its vibrant and eye-catching colors, childlike and whimsical style, and a sense of British humor that entertains the public. Drawing inspiration from everyday life, he takes ordinary shapes, colors, fleeting street scenes, and noises, infuses them with soul, and transforms them into amusing expressions of emotion. His art also questions contemporary art and social environments.

Burgerman believes in pure imagination and hopes that everyone can participate in experiencing the potential for creation, thus creating joy in their own lives. The artist has explored various artistic mediums, including sculpture, fashion, design, printmaking and so on.

The artwork " Friends" is one of the artist's recent works, with a focus on techniques like spray paint or crayon. The style is characterized by the randomness of dripping pigments before they dry, creating a sense of unpredictability. This technique makes the characters in the painting appear both smiling and crying, much like the mixed emotions of life. Viewers can not only interpret the emotions conveyed by the artwork, but also engage with and complete the piece in their own way.
