Lot 9038
A BRONZE DRAGON EARS CYLINDRICAL CENSER WITH RUYI LOTUS-PETAL PATTERNED Qing Dynasty
Delicate bronze with chestnut red skin, the piece is smooth with a solemn resonance. It starts with a round opening, a flat rim and a cylindrical abdominal with a pair of Kui dragon handles extending out from the abdominal area before narrowing gradually at the bottom onto a round foot. On the bottom, the four characters, Study Hall of Swaying Willows, are written across two lines in seal script and are embossed in a square frame in the middle. There are two wide stripes on the wall near the opening and at the bottom. Below the top stripe is a circle of Ruyi clouds. Above the bottom stripe is a circle of lotus petals. In addition to the stylish contours, this vessel charms with its distinct Ruyi style lotus petals.
