As an apprentice of Jin Boqin, Yu Zhonglin attained an impressive level of traditional Gongbi Style form, to articulate objects’ spiritual quality. Apart from Chinese paintings, Yu also learnt the quintessences of Japanese floral and bird paintings. Every detail was painted with meticulous care making each object springs to life in the painting. Along with the Song’s composition cleverly employed, the two sparrows spring to life chasing after the fruits, forming an interesting scene.
