Lot 9001
A BRONZE DRAGON EARS CENSER Qing Dynasty
The whole body is of an excellent copper casting, with a flat rimmed round mouth extending into a beamed neck and sloping shoulders. Both sides have dragon handles and an oblate abdominal which gradually slims downwards. At its base, the mark, Made in the Xuande Period of the Ming Dynasty, is written across three rows. The bottom reveals a beautiful golden copper whilst the outer wall is of a deep maroon coloration. As this item has aged, its mottled appearance has resulted in a breathtaking display of light and shadow.
