Wang Xiao Bo 王曉勃
Chinese 1974

Wang Xiao Bo is an internationally acclaimed Chinese contemporary artist, born in Beijing in 1974, where he currently lives and works. He graduated from the Department of Oil Painting at the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) in 2000, studying under renowned painters Jin Shangyi, Zhu Naizheng, and Yang Feiyun. Recognized as one of the most significant artists of China’s post-1970s generation, Wang is celebrated for his refined technique and profound conceptual depth.

Centering on figurative subjects, Wang integrates symbolic visual motifs into his paintings, using humor and dreamlike compositions to explore themes of self-reflection, generational identity, and the human pursuit of truth and hope. His inspiration often stems from personal experiences—his reflections on love during marriage or insights drawn from his sons’ curiosity after becoming a father—leading to major series such as Searching for Light.

Wang’s works have been exhibited in prominent institutions and international art fairs around the world, including the Irish Museum of Modern Art, the 15th Biennale of Sydney (2005), Art Hamptons and the Los Angeles Art Show (2013–2015), the NordArt Annual Exhibition in Germany (2016), and Art Stage Singapore. In recent years, he has also actively participated in major art fairs across Asia, such as Art Taipei, Art Taichung, and Art Tainan.
